Judd W. Goodall is a partner at McCumber Daniels and practices from the firm’s Florida office. Mr. Goodall focuses his trial practice on first-party insurance defense. Mr. Goodall has represented Florida’s largest and smallest property insurers in first-party property disputes relating to sinkhole, windstorm, fire, mold and water losses. Mr. Goodall is often called upon to provide coverage analysis, opinions and continues to work on many “bad faith” related matters.

In addition to representing insurance companies in first-party actions, his experience includes litigating and defending many complex liability cases on behalf of property owners, construction companies, medical professionals, health care facilities, claims of employment discrimination, violations of the Florida's Civil Rights Act, and various theories of medical malpractice, auto negligence, personal injury and wrongful death. Mr. Goodall continues to be involved in monitoring and analyzing proposed legislation, and advising clients on the potential impact of such proposed changes in the law. 

Mr. Goodall recently obtained a complete defense verdict during a jury trial as trial counsel on a confirmed sinkhole dispute, Alfonso Chechile v. Nationwide Insurance Company of Florida, in Pasco County, Florida. The unique issues relating to method of repair on a confirmed loss is considered the first of its kind to return a complete jury defense verdict in Florida. The impact of this defense verdict was immediately noted throughout this practice area; saving various carriers significant money in both litigation costs and indemnity dollars.

Mr. Goodall graduated from Stetson University College of Law where he obtained a Certificate of Concentration in Advocacy, the Book Award, the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award, and he interned with the Pinellas County Attorney’s Office as well as the Hillsborough County Public Defender’s Office. Mr. Goodall serves as an active member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association and he is admitted to practice in both Florida State and Federal Court.  Mr. Goodall is a member of the Bad Faith Insurance Committee for the Council on Litigation Management (CLM).

Mr. Goodall is a graduate of Eckerd College, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with High Honors (magna cum laude) and also minored in American Studies. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Goodall was Director of Operations for a regional company that provided consultation to business managers and executives with respect to inventory control and loss prevention.
